Event Information
Early in the COVID-19 crisis, ventilators were in short supply as were clinicians to monitor the devices. Hospitals also needed to protect frontline medical staff by limiting their exposure to infected patients. Yale New Haven Health (YNHH) solved this challenge by connecting ventilators to its medical device network and EHR. Staff from YNHH will explain how the medical device integration and redesigned workflow enabled clinicians to surveil ventilated patients in multiple hospitals while being alerted of clinically actionable events, which limited their exposure to the virus and reduced the use of PPE. This complements the health system’s established InSight Tele-ICU program and aligns with the strategic direction of the health system related to telemedicine and data management. Learning Objectives:- Understand how cross-departmental collaboration helped support pandemic response and patient care.
- Understand the potential benefits associated with expanded medical device integration and remote clinical surveillance.
- Hear how expanded access to live, streaming patient data can support long-term strategic initiatives including predictive analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The reality is that training times continue to be reduced while the complexity of topics continues to increase, which often leaves students overwhelmed. In today's information age, classroom training simply is not enough on its own to prepare your staff to perform on the job. Organizations are looking for new solutions that support their staff and increase performance in the flow of work after the classroom training event. To combat the high cognitive load of training today, many organizations are implementing performance support tools. They are expanding their training ecosystems to ensure that the training they create is available to support people where they are applying their skills and knowledge. Learning Objectives:- Define the need for a performance support strategy
- Identify critical elements that learners want from their performance support program
- Review desired features of performance support software

Event Information
The opioid crisis continues to devastate communities and families throughout the nation. In fact, up to 15% of healthcare professionals will abuse drugs during their lifetime. Unfortunately, many healthcare employees struggling with addiction have direct access to controlled substances at work and will divert drugs intentionally for personal use. Consequently, drug diversion is a serious problem for hospitals and health systems in the U.S., and 95% of all incidents of drug diversion go undetected. In this session, we’ll cover organizational denial, spotting “red flags” of medication diversion, steps to take towards prevention, and building an effective drug diversion monitoring program and culture of compliance in your organization. Learning Objectives:- Diversion “red flags” – what you should monitor and look for
- Steps to take towards prevention
- Building an effective drug diversion monitoring program and culture

Organizations often face a situation where they are not fully utilizing software applications and often turn to additional applications to help bridge a perceived gap. Additionally, through mergers and acquisitions, an organization inherits the applications from both sides of the M&A activity. This can lead to redundant applications being in an environment, applications not using their fullest functionality, and outdated legacy applications persisting throughout the organization. This situation results in increased costs, security risks, and non-optimal end-user experiences. For these reasons, Application Rationalization is becoming an increasingly important project for organizations – a project often resulting in cost savings in excess of the project itself. Learning Objectives:- What is Application Rationalization?
- What is the best approach for an Application Rationalization project?
- What are some key outcomes from an Application Rationalization project?
